Trumpington Strings

We are a small string orchestra which meets at Denis Wilson Court, Porson Road, Cambridge, CB2 8ES. Our members are from all age groups and we work towards playing an informal concert or two each year at Denis Wilson Court, occasionally elsewhere, entry donations going to local charities. We perform music from the standard string orchestra repertoire and also some more modern music. We sometimes explore chamber music.

We are looking for more violinists – all ages are welcome and ideally, we are looking for fairly competent sight readers. We are a friendly group and enjoy playing together in a workshop atmosphere. The rehearsals are currently held on Sunday afternoons at Denis Wilson Court (every two or three weeks depending on players’ availability) from 2pm until 4.30pm, with a break for tea and cake. The musical director is Gillian Ruddick, teacher of violin and viola, formerly founder/director of Nova Strings in New Zealand, with a Cambridge University degree in music and Licentiate diplomas in violin and viola (Trinity College).

For more information please contact Gillian by email: g.m.ruddick.01@cantabgold.net telling her something about your orchestral experience.
