Trumpington Repair Café

The idea of Repair Cafes is very simple. People who love mending things offer their services to anybody who has something that needs mending. At our Repair Café in May we were able to repair a lot of the articles brought in, all in a most happy atmosphere. We can save a much loved object, save money, and save things going to landfill.

Even when something couldn’t be repaired, it was obvious people were pleased to know that they had tried, and delicious homemade cake may have helped to blunt any disappointment when something defeated even our repairers.

We were happy to join forces with the Trumpington Kids Clothes Hub as usual, making their wonderful clothes rails available on a Sunday afternoon.

We have now held 11 events since our first in April 2023 and are well established on the Trumpington calendar with three events a year. We are now self-funding thanks to donations and profits from the cakes and drinks on sale, and always welcome new volunteer bakers and helpers.

The next event will be on Sunday 6 September from 2-5pm in the Trumpington Meadows Primary School, which has proved an ideal “home” for our events.
