At The MumCo we recognise that being a mum is hard work. There are golden moments but also so many days where we do the same thing over and over. Sometimes, it’s not easy to get out of the house and we can feel overwhelmed or disconnected. We believe that better mums make a better world and are seeking to provide space to be part of a community, grow and learn about motherhood and be equipped for the challenging days.

In terms of what our sessions look like, we run a creche, with DBS-checked helpers, so mums can have time for uninterrupted conversation, tea and coffee that’s still hot, and actually finish a sentence. So of course there’s chatting, and catching up, but we explore themes across the year through activities. We invite speakers to talk about relevant topics e.g. setting boundaries for children, screen time and getting outdoors, building authentic friendships, handling money and conflict well, and we have a lot of fun. We organise accessible creative activities, play games, have meaningful discussion, often with cake!

Our new theme is Good Company and over the next year we’ll help each other: resist insecurity and fear of rejection • reframe overwhelm • be good friends, not perfect ones • belong despite differences • have more fun • start feeling known.

  • Stay & Play: 13 October, 3 & 17 November.
