Trumpington Local History Group

Our next meeting will be on Thursday 19 February at 7pm, at the Clay Farm Centre, when we will consider two farming-related topics. We are delighted that David Knott, Estate Manager for the Trumpington Estate, has agreed to give us a talk about how farming practices in Trumpington have changed over the past fifty years. This will be followed by a talk by Jo Sear on the ‘coprolite rush’ in Trumpington. All are welcome, admission £2.50.

In May (final date to be confirmed) we plan to hold a meeting in Trumpington church led by David Newcombe and Edmund Brookes. David will cover religion in the pre-Reformation period and how this changed from the mid-sixteenth century, with particular reference to the vicars of Trumpington and how their theological beliefs impacted on Trumpington parishioners. Edmund will then show surviving evidence within the church which demonstrates how religious practices changed following the Reformation.

Our website trumpingtonlocalhistorygroup.org has lots of information about all kinds of aspects of the history of the parish. Just search from the home page.
