Clay Farm Community Garden

Clay Farm Community Garden

In October and November, we met with Council Community Development Officers and the local Police Officers to try to find solutions to the problems of anti-social and criminal behaviour in the Garden (and throughout the Clay Farm area) which has had a growing impact on the Garden, made worse by the years of delay in the adoption of the Garden by the Council from Vistry/Countryside. Following this we have written to the Council and the CEO of Vistry/Countryside with a number of recommendations supported by both the Police and Community Development team.

On a more positive note, the October pumpkin carving event was well attended and enjoyed by the children. Our Thanksgiving food truck and sale of cakes on behalf of Alzheimer’s Research was a success at the ECO market.

We ended the year with our packed Christmas celebration on 11 December, with carol singing, mulled wine, mince pies, and home baked cakes from VG Coffee. Sadly, there was damage due to over-excited children running through the plant beds and using the feasting table as a climbing frame.

We started the New Year by joining the Orchard Wassail and Seedy Sunday in January.
