South Cambridge Striders: Running together, growing together

Two years ago, a small group of dads from Trumpington who regularly ran together while training for the Cambridge Half Marathon decided to open up their weekly runs to others. What began as a group of friends enjoying a shared passion for running has since grown into South Cambridge Striders, a thriving running club with almost 90 members from across South Cambridgeshire.

As both a Trumpington resident and Chair of the club, I’ve been incredibly proud to see how much we’ve grown. While running is at the heart of what we do, the real success of the club has been the community we’ve built. Our members range from those taking their very first steps in running to experienced marathon runners, and everyone is welcomed and supported.

We know that starting something new can feel daunting, but running with others makes all the difference. Whether you’re looking to improve your fitness, train for an event, or simply meet new people, our club offers a friendly and inclusive environment where everyone can progress at their own pace.

Trumpington has always had a strong sense of community, and we’re delighted to play a small part in bringing local people together through a shared love of running. Many friendships have been formed on our weekly runs, and it’s fantastic to see members supporting one another both on and off the road.
