Trumpington Meadows Community Volunteers

Trumpington Meadows was alive with colour and celebration back in February as residents came together to welcome Chinese New Year of the Fire Horse.

The afternoon featured songs and stunning performances from the Cambridge Chinese Community Centre, with the traditional lion dancers. Their cheeky naughtiness delighted the large crowd gathered in the Local Community Centre. A thrilling fire-eater performance added extra excitement - with a final reminder from the organiser: please do not try this at home!

Families also enjoyed Chinese crafts and decorations, and delicious treats from our loyal food vans, who support Trumpington Meadows throughout the year.

Our thanks go especially to the South Trumpington Parish Meeting, who this year also funded a large marquee, helping to make the event extra special; to Dreams & Wishes Events, who produced the celebration; and to the volunteers, who once again made light of the hard work involved.

The beautiful spring sunshine made everything sparkle and gave the day a true sense of celebration. A joyful afternoon, and a wonderful way to welcome the beginning of the Chinese New Year together as a community.
